Getting
a job in South Africa is not an easy task, and it has
become considerably harder, during the last few years.
Since the demise of the Apartheid regime, South Africa
struggles to find jobs and fulfill the expectations of a
growing educated black population. There are
international companies, but they generally prefer to
employ South Africans. In some areas it is obviously
essential that you speak Afrikaans. Thus, unless
you can offer a very specific technical or medical
qualification, you will not be able to obtain a work
permit. You should also realize that salaries
are, by international standards, relatively low.
But
having said all this, South Africa offers a high standard
of living. There are also a number of outstanding
Universities. Security and crime is a general concern,
especially in urban areas.
