Commenced a branch in Dubai as a one man operation and developed this into a 90-man operation within 3 years achieving/exceeding revenue and profit targets every year. First year revenue was US$ 3.0 millions and second year was US$ 6.0 millions both of which are outstanding for a new operation for an electrical and Instrumentation company. All projects are conceptually managed under me with a fast growing and capable engineering team.

Main achievements accomplished are as follows:
  • Completely managed the proposal, presentations, contract negotiations and execute totally from our Dubai facilities the project of design and manufacture a world class wellhead control panel for Khuff gas fields for ARAMCO. The contract is worth approx.US$ 4 millions grossing a 25% profit and involve 111 identical panels made to NEMA 4X.
  • Currently in execution it is also complete turnkey E & I works including ESD/DCS/Fire & Gas systems for an Offshore well platform and Onshore Gas plant in Bulgaria worth US$ 1.5 million and cost plus site commissioning services.
  • Design and manufacture a chemical injection package for polymer injection skid and corrosion inhibitor injection skid involving Foundation Field bus instruments and Ex-proof PLC control system for polymer injection and feed controls.
  • Design and manufacture electrical and Instrumentation systems for water injection package for Hardy Oil production platform including a containerized control room incorporating MCC, Alan Bradley PLC based control system and Fire and Gas systems.
  • Design and manufacture an H60 rated control building for Burouge petrochemical plant at Ruwais for Alliance Bechtel Linde .
  • Design and install electrical and instrumentation for various skid packages to handle TEG gas Drying packages, standard and electrostatic coalescing separator packages, test separator packages, Direct and Indirect Fired Heater packages etc.
  • Provision of back up services for completed projects.

  • Gas Pre-treatment plant to remove C6 plus hydrocarbons from gas stream to protect the membranes from CO2 removing membrane plant. This was a pioneering project not tested elsewhere but was successfully commissioned for Gulf Resources Inc., Indonesia in year 2000.

  • Develop and establish a team of 12 senior engineers including the engineering manager to support the project management of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO facilities for MASA field development for Trenergy/Petronas.
  • Develop and establish a team of 8 senior shift engineers and operators to start-up and commission 2 x 300 MW coal/gas/steam fired power plant for Black and Veatch for phase 3 of Port Klang power plant in Malaysia. The contract lasted for 3 years covering ongoing maintenance and warranty of the plant.
  • Develop and establish a team of 12 senior engineers and designers to support the project detailed engineering of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facilities for Laminaria and Corrolina field development for Woodside Australia.
  • Develop and establish a team of 12 engineers and technicians to check and commission the Utility Terminal providing steam and water and managing waste water to all other plants on the Sakra island for Sakra Utilities Term (SUT) operated by Sembawang group in Singapore.
  • Design and manufacture control and monitoring systems for FPSO and oil tankers/oil rigs including vibration monitoring sytems for PSL/DDC/Nortrans/Mc Dermott etc.
  • Design and execute E & I installations for 6 large skid packages for Kvaerner Process Systems in Malaysia for FPSO Esso Balder topsides.

This group was a small marine service company when I joined them in 1977 and became a substantial marine and oil and gas company by 1985 when Alfa Laval acquired it. The oil and gas contracts in Malaysian operations played a large part in this growth and acquisition. Initial assignment was at a steam power plant at Samarang, Indonesia for start up and commissioning of electrical systems which lasted for about two years after which I was assigned to start and develop a company in Malaysia which developed from a humble one man operation to a large 250 man operations by 1985. I have been primarily responsible for developing and executing all the company activities and the following projects are the main achievements during my employment with this company.
  • Develop a large platform maintenance contract involving 17 offshore production platforms from inception managing it for 3 years to contractual completion and additional two years of non-contractual extension. This contract was for ESSO PRODUCTION MALAYSIA INC (EPMI). Value exceeded US$ 12 millions.
  • Develop a large Start-up/Commissioning/Maintenance Contract for the same client, ESSO PRODUCTION MALAYSIA INC (EPMI) for the terminal developed to receive the gas and oil from the offshore platforms maintained under the above contract. This contract lasted 2 years, one year more than the period originally contracted for.
  • Develop a large plant maintenance contract for Malaysia LNG plant at Bintulu including maintenance of mechanical and E & I works.
  • Develop a lump sum erection contract for instrument works at platform II at Port Dickson refinery for SHELL.
  • Develop a lump sum contract based on unit rates for instrument works for Port Klang power plant phase I for CGEE Alsthom.
  • Initially at Samarang, Indonesia, I was involved in testing and commissioning of all electrical systems at the plant including GE Turbine Generators including generator excitation systems, Foster Wheeler oil fired steam boiler systems, GE substations and switchgear and all related ancillaries.
